Kaalinga Mane

Kalinga Centre for Rainforest Ecology (KCRE) is an environmental education institute. Here, irrespective of professional or academic background, people are provided information through workshops and camps to learn scientific tools. Since 2012, the Kalinga Centre for Rainforest Ecology (KCRE) has been functioning as an access point.

Kaalinga Mane (KCRE) is located at Churchihaklu, Guddekeri, Agumbe Hobli, Thirthahalli Taluk, Shivamogga District.

Founded by P Gowri Shankar and his wife Sharmila, under their leadership, Kaalinga Mane (KCRE), a wildlife biologist and herpetologist, has taken great strides in creating awareness about snakes. The priority here is to protect and translocate snakes, promote more scientific studies on snakes, and develop a unique program to address the human-snake conflict.

It also has catering and accommodation facilities for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and nature lovers. KCRE offers internship opportunities to students and researchers of reputed institutes at its centre.
